Riparian right and Littoral right

Riparian right: the ownership of land that borders on a river or stream carries with it the right to use that water in common with the other land owners whose land borders the same water course. This is known as a Riparian right.


Littoral Right: Littoral rights allow a landowner to use and enjoy the water touching his land provided; he does not alter the waters position by artificial means.
